Kashmir Fund DK provides vital medical treatment to the most vulnerable communities in Pakistan. Through mobile medical and surgical medical camps, we reach families in remote areas without access to qualified medical care. The project offers free examinations, medicines and medical advice. Since 2012, we have treated over 10,000 patients.
Background and needs
In many rural areas of Kashmir, there is a severe lack of health facilities and trained health workers. The population often has a long distance to the nearest hospital, and for many, treatment is financially unaffordable. This results in untreated diseases, complications and unnecessary deaths.
Common health problems in the area include infectious diseases such as diarrhoea, dysentery, cholera and malaria, as well as respiratory diseases, chronic diseases, malnutrition and complications related to maternal and child health. The need for basic and emergency medical care is therefore great and urgent.
Objectives
Who we support
We support children, adults, and elderly people living in vulnerable rural areas, with a particular focus on pregnant women and young children. Our work reaches low-income families who lack access to basic health services, as well as entire communities in Kashmir, Pakistan. Depending on local needs and conditions, each medical camp supports more than 2,000 patients.
