Qurbani means “sacrifice” and refers to the act of sacrificing an animal during Eid al-Adha. It is a symbolic act that reflects obedience and devotion to Allah (SWT).
This tradition originates from the story of Prophet Ibrahim (AS), who was commanded by Allah to sacrifice his son Ismail (AS). At the crucial moment, he was stopped, and Allah replaced his son with a ram. This event stands as a powerful symbol of Ibrahim’s faith, obedience, and trust in Allah.
Today, Muslims around the world continue this tradition by performing Qurbani.
Qurbani can be performed on behalf of oneself or others.
Each year, Kashmir Fund DK ensures that Qurbani is distributed to families in need. This year, distribution is planned in Kashmir and Punjab.
